ConnectMonitor Beta Available (AIR-based Acrobat Connect Pro tool)

connectmonitor

ConnectMonitor does exactly what it implies:† It monitors your Acrobat Connect Pro deployment, and if there’s a problem, alerts you to the issue.† This is in its early days of development, so please don’t count on it as your only monitoring source (shame on you if you don’t have multiple methods in place…).† We would really appreciate your feedback and suggestions, so please fire away to michael at this domain dot com.

To install the application:

ConnectMonitor (Adobe AIR Required)

Here’s some FAQs on the application:

What Is It?
ConnectMonitor is a desktop application (uses Adobe AIR) that monitors your Acrobat Connect Pro deployment to ensure its availability.† If there is a problem, its status will change, and an alert will be played to notify you if you have it running in the background.

How does it work?
ConnectMonitor is a desktop application (Windows or Mac, maybe even Linux now…someone please confirm ;) , which you run (consider adding it to your programs to launch on startup) when connected to the internet.† ConnectMonitor then polls an entry-point into the Acrobat Connect Pro system to determine status (as recommended in the administration best-practices) every 20 seconds.† Based on the results, the status indicators are updated to reflect the availability of the system.† ConnectMonitor also posts these results to an application we’ve built on Google App Engine ( http://code.google.com/appengine/ ).† Our intent is to eventually provide sms and email alerts, as well as graphical charts on this data.† More on that to come…

How much does it cost?
$0.00 right now.† There may be pay-for services in the future, or not.

How do I get support?
This is an experiment/beta, so there isn’t any traditional support.† If you have an issue, or have feedback, please do send it along to michael at this domain dot com.

We’ve got a (meeting)Pulse!

If you were one of the several hundred folks who downloaded and used the MeetingPulse application with Acrobat Connect Pro, then you know it hasn’t worked since the AIR Beta 2 expired.† Unfortunately, as “trailblazers” on the AIR Beta and pre-release programs, we got bitten by some pretty significant changes to the platform between Beta and final release.† However, enough frustrated-email has arrived about MeetingPulse no longer working that we are revisiting the code and porting it to the current AIR release.

We expect to have a preview release available for our customers, as well as a few folks on either on-premise and Adobe-Hosted in the next week or so.† If you are an existing customer, I’ll be following up directly.† If you fall into one of the latter two categories of Acrobat Connect Pro customers, please send an email to michael at this domain, and I’ll add you to the list.
